A straightforward 100% cotton nappy, simply folded and placed into a wrap. The prefold system is one of the cheapest washable nappy systems available, however it is a little more basic than a fitted nappy. The prefold system is the ideal budget system - extremely affordable, though a little more work is involved than with fitted nappies and not as absorbent or as leakproof. This just means you may have to consider changing a little more often, and that the cover will need changing more frequently than with the fitted Mother-ease nappies.
The prefold Nappies come in Three sizes Small for newborn - 3mths (30 x 40cm approx), Medium 3mths + (36 x 55cm approx) and Large 12mths+ (42 x 58cm approx).
Industrial quality laundry style nappies . The rectangular prefold is folded into three, a flushable/washable liner is placed across the pad and placed inside a wrap. No need for pins! It gives a slim fit of neat appearance. The Nappy is made up of three panels, the central panel (thicker than the wings) has eight layers of cotton, the wings having four. They wash well up to 90ºC. This is the system used by the laundry services throughout the world, simply because of the high temperatures it can be washed at.
The Rikki wrap is the cover to use with this nappy, we would recommend that at least 6 covers in the correct size are purchased with 24 nappies for full time nappying. (Owing to the fact that the cover will need washing more frequently as the soiling will be greater with a prefold than with a fitted nappy.)
